Septopus

In celebration to the launching of the short film "Anachronism" online, the screening was held last Saturday at the Chapels Arts in Vancouver. Winning 6 out of 11 nominated Leo Awards in 2009, this 14 minute drama was the first ever to be nominated for all categories in Leo Awards' history. Congratulations to my dear friend Jessica and producer of the film, who took the prestigious name of Best Short Drama home last year. The Anachronism, set in the late 19th century, unfolds an adventurous story of a paranormal encounter. I won't spoil the movie here but it does star a 10 foot tall robotic squid and adorable Ryan Grantham from the movie Jumper. When I helped out with the costumes for this movie, 12 year old Ryan told me that he has been writing scripts in hopes to direct them one day :) Watch the movie online here and stay tune to their website because the story is to be continued...

Currently in too much of The Hills' addiction/ obsession (sorry..)

DIY Studs Headband

photos by sherry and me

1) Materials: 0.8 to 1.2 meter of black velvet ribbon, assorted gold square studs, and 1 pair of small snap buttons

2) Measure the length of ribbon you need to fit around your head, leaving approximately an extra 3-4 inches on each end. Pin the area where you want the large studs to be placed on the headband prior to securing the studs on. Then, secure the small studs by equally spacing them from one another. This is where creativity takes part in the project. Play around with the variations; pattern it however you like!

Tips: Make sure the backing of the studs are firmly pressed down flat to avoid them from catching onto your hair.

3) Try the headband on and mark the midpoint on where the two ends meet at the back (one overlapping another). Sew on the snaps accordingly.

4) After the snaps are sewn, hide the stitching with a large stud and trim the two ends so that they are in matching length.

5) Ta~Da :)

You always have options: Instead of using snaps, you can try just tying a bow at the back (approximately 1.5-1.6 meter of ribbon will be needed). For something more dramatic, loosely braid two to three headbands together.

Edge of Desire

His eloquence in writing great lyrics, outstanding guitar solos, smothering voice, quirky dry sense of humour, devilish good looks, full sleeve tattoo(!!), (...i could keep going:)) what's not to love about John Mayer? I don't consider myself a die-hard fan but no playboy interview or status of him being a slutty serial dater is going to stop me from loving what he does.

I let good music speak for itself.

Currently replaying this video over & over. Loovelove this song.
First 20 secs had literally compelled me to write this entry. Also my first entry.

L.C Returning To The Hills?

There's been a lot of word that Lauren Conrad will be returning to The Hill's final season. If these rumours are true, that would be soooo great. She's my all time favourite character in the show and it felt like we were growing up together throughout the years of The Hills. It is just NOT the same without her! Check out these fabulous pictures from Glamour of L.C and her REAL BFFs (the only ones from the show without any plastic surgeries!)

A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be,

p.s. Speaking of The Hills, what does Brody Jenner see in Avril Lavigne? I can't believe he went from dating a hot playboy model to an ugly gothic girl-wannabe. Are they really dating? REALLY?

Talula Babaton Trunk Show

Credit: photos from aritzia.com

Last week, Sherry and I were invited to an Aritzia’s exclusive personal shopping event at the Downtown flagship store. We saw a preview of some of Talula Babaton’s summer collection items and not to our surprise, the trend continues to evolve around nude tones, soft hues, delicate fabrics, and feminine embroideries. One of the highlights of the night was meeting Jolene Baldwin, a tailored specialist for Talula Babaton, who gave me some expert tips on how to fit a pair of men’s pleated trousers. There were probably no more than 40 guests that night, which was nice to shop at a non-crowded Aritzia for once.

I’ve always been a big fan of anything that’s open-back/backless and this seems to be a rising trend this season. When I saw the Wilfred mineral wash dress online, I immediately fell in love with the big scoop back and stitching details on the shoulders. This is probably by far my favorite purchase of the year (so far, at least :).

xoxo,

Stephanie
