stripes x floral

top, T by ALEXANDER WANG. skirt, FOREVER 21. tights, H&M.
photos by Rosanna

Welcome to my first [official] fashion post :) Currently, really like mixing and matching stripes with floral (and stripes with stripes). Something I quickly put together as I rushed off to photography class. We had models come in for a practice photoshoot and of course, we took advantage of the set and complimenting lighting after class. Rosanna said something funny to make me laugh and managed to capture a few odd but great candids of my awkwardly positioned legs. Though my creativity in the art of posing was limited, we all surprisingly had a lot of fun.

The City

photos from LA Times Blog

The Hills is getting boring, and I am more intrigued by what’s happening on The City. I can't help but get a little excited after Alpha class on Wednesdays, knowing that I have a new episode of The City on my PVR. Oh the New York lifestyle, the inside scoop of Elle magazine and New York Post P.6, it's like a grown up version of the Gossip Girl. Last but not least, I get to drool over the fabulous outfits of Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo (even though I do not agree with her work ethics, but her clothes are just AMAZING!) It's inspiring to see how people develop their careers in the fashion industry in New York. The office conflicts between Erin and Olivia is also very interesting to watch (hello, team Erin over here!) I am a big believer in being a hard worker over being a schmoozer (Joe Zee sure loves the confidence in Olivia and her ability to socialize with anyone). In real life I would consider myself to be an Erin (not really sure if it's a good thing though). On the other hand, Kelly Cutrone's harsh words could be somewhat inspiring. Now I want to buy her book and see what she has to say, despite how cynical she could be sometimes. However, knowing how successful she is, I am sure there are lots that I can learn from her!!

Boboli + MaxMara Spring Warehouse Sale

SportMax s/s 2010 Catalog

Unlike the past few years, Boboli and MaxMara are having their warehouse sale this year at Oakridge Centre (where HMV used to be) instead of their usual spot on South Granville. You can find designer brands, such as Boboli, MaxMara, 'S MaxMara, SportMax, Etro, Blumarine, Missioni, Blubird, Vince, Marc by Marc Jacobs, J Brand, Current/Elliott, Rich & Skinny, UGG, Juicy Couture, and Splendid for 30 to 90 percent off! The sale is on now through May 28th. It's worth a look for those who are in a hunt for designer jeans or have shoe sizes 8 and up. I visited on the second day of the sale and really wanted to get these Marc by Marc Jacobs rain boots, that were only selling for $75, but they only had large sizes left. It was one of those moments I wished I had bigger feet.

show us some love

t-shirt, Zara

I bought this t-shirt from Zara a few days ago and I just love how the heart-shaped hands situate exactly where my heart is when I put it on (though not very obvious in this picture). Highly recommend it. I know our blog is still a bit shy on posts at the moment but we're working on it. Good things come to those who wait :) So, show us some love by subscribing and following The Raw Diamond on twitter and bloglovin'!

Special thanks to our personal techie Eric, for showing his love and helping us style our blog!

California Dreaming - San Francisco - Part 1

It's funny how I've been at the SFO airport so many times to transfer flights but have never really expericenced San Francisco( apart from a great selection of food at the SFO airport..). Considering San Francisco is only 2 hours of flight away (despite my bad luck with flight cancallations..oh Air Canada, I love you!), Bman and I have decided to go there and check it out. We immediately fell in love with the beautiful scenary, the scrumptious food and the sunny Cali weather. Now I finally understand why so many people would love to move to SF, I would love to live in those cute townhouses in San Francisco too!

We found a great deal to stay at
the Palace Hotel in the heart of the financial district in SF. It's only 2-3 blocks away from the Union Square. It's a great hotel with the most beautiful garden court cafe, and also an indoor roof top pool. This hotel was rebuilt in 1909 after the devastation earthquake in SF, despite the age of the hotel, it's been newly renovated and the rooms have a 7 ft high ceiling.
